Faith That Walks Daily

“Now is the fullness of time,” He said, “and the kingdom of God is near! Turn away from your sins, and believe in the Good News!” — Mark 1:15 TLV

Faith in the Midst of Uncertainty

Have you ever felt like your faith was being tested? Abram’s story in Genesis 15 reminds us that even the greatest heroes of faith had moments of doubt. Yet it was in these very moments that God’s promises shone the brightest, reassuring Abram of His unwavering love and commitment.

“After these things the word of Adonai came to Abram in a vision saying, ‘Do not fear, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.’”Genesis 15:1 TLV

The ancient prayer Melech Ozeir U’Moshia UMagen (מלך עוזר ומשיע ומגן) — “King, Helper, Savior, and Shield” — echoes this same truth. God meets us in seasons of waiting and whispers: “Do not fear.”

Faith is not the absence of questions—it’s choosing trust in the middle of them.

Faith Rests on God’s Word, Not Our Understanding

Abram, still childless, cried out:

“Look! You have given me no seed…”Genesis 15:3 TLV

But God answered with a vivid promise:

“Look up now, at the sky, and count the stars—if you are able to count them. So shall your seed be.”Genesis 15:5 TLV

The night sky became Abram’s reminder that God’s promises were greater than his doubts. Nahum Sarna comments that this visual metaphor captured not only the magnitude of God’s covenant but also the awe of His plans.

Hudson Taylor once hung two Hebrew words in his home: אֶבֶן הָעֵזֶר – Ebenezer (“Hitherto the LORD has helped us”) and יְהוָה יִרְאֶה – Adonai Jireh (“The LORD will provide”). One word looked back at God’s faithfulness, the other forward to His provision.

Trusting daily means feeding on what God has said—not what we see.

Faith is Credited, Not Earned

“Then he believed in Adonai and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.”Genesis 15:6 TLV

Abram wasn’t counted righteous because of perfection but because of trust. Paul echoes this truth:

“Yet he did not waver in unbelief concerning the promise of God… He was fully convinced that what God has promised, He also is able to do.”Romans 4:20–21 TLV

Faith isn’t performance—it’s a posture of the heart.

Daily Trust Means Ongoing Surrender

The covenant of Genesis 15 reminds us that faith is not about control, but surrender. Abram’s heir, Isaac, would not be born for many years. Still, Abram walked with God in trust.

As Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote:“Faith is only real when there is obedience, never without it, and faith only becomes faith in the act of obedience.”

The same kind of faith is seen in Daniel 3, when Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego declared: “Our God is able to save us… but even if He does not, we will not serve your gods.” Their trust in the fire became their testimony.

Call to Response: Walk in Emunah Today

  • What promise are you still waiting on?

  • Where do you need to lean less on your understanding and more on God’s voice?

  • Will you walk by emunah (אֱמוּנָה)—faith—not by sight? (2 Corinthians 5:7)

How do we walk daily in faith?

  • Be filled with the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).

  • Stay anchored in His Word.

  • Walk together as the kehilla (community).

Avinu Malkeinu — Our Father, Our King, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, we thank You for the covenant of faith, sealed not by works, but by trust in Your promise.

Just as Avraham believed in Adonai, and it was credited to him as righteousness, so we declare today: We will walk by emunah, not by sight.

Breathe boldness into our hearts, Yeshua. Burn away doubt and fear. Anchor us in Your eternal Word. Strengthen our steps, that we may follow wherever You lead.

Amen.
